As I have said before, I'm just one guy building this website on my own in my spare time. It's not helpful to say "don't bother communicating that system is broken". It's not broken, It's just not fully finished yet. I'm working hard to improve the notification system as quickly as I can.

Great job so far Mat, keep up the good work and patience is a virtue.

Mat, perhaps a separate page for each country?

If we are eventually to meet up LOCALLY, knowing who's in our immediate environment seems pertinent. One could also group the different languages on the same page. I understand a couple myself but at present, the English-speakers are here but not the French or German (etc.). There could always be a Front Page where all are grouped, but to finalize face-to-face communication, each country should only show those living there.

Hi Joe, I'm working on a "circles" facility which will allow you to create location based circles (which could be country based) however I'd personally prefer not to place emphasis on imaginary man-made borders (which seem to be the cause so many of our problems). Having said that I do see the value in focusing specific strategies on the current political situation of a given country.

Yes, language is an issue I have been thinking about. So maybe language based circles rather than country based. The system already has facilities to see who is in your local area.

Mat,
I'm an ex-pat living in Switzerland, not the country where I was born. This is a land where multiple languages are in practice. If we had our own country page, people could express themselves in English, French, German, Italian or Romansh. I've found one person close by (who probably speaks German) that I could eventually meet, but with a multi-language page others might appear who are not fluent in English.

Mat, you write “I'd personally prefer not to place emphasis on imaginary man-made borders (which seem to be the cause so many of our problems).” I can understand your position, but I thought “Full Circle Project” was supposed to unite groups from around the world and subsequently offer solutions to take back the planet (from the scum)?

Perhaps another social-media site would be necessary (with moderators) to fully delve into the problem?

HI Joe, yes, it is absolutely about uniting groups from around the world... maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but how does having a separate page for each country help with that objective? Does my view of ignoring imaginary country borders and including all countries on one platform not help unite groups from all over the world? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your point.

Hi Mat, the answer to your question is yes, however my idea was to have one page per country so that people living there could immediately know who was around. Switzerland is an exception to the rule as there are 4 national languages and not everyone can communicate in English, so putting the (Swiss) French with the (Swiss) Germans and the (Swiss) Italians all on one page (writing in their specific tongues) would attract more people and get the project on an even footing. At present, only people who write English are there to change the world!
With your method, people are discovering others (just like on Facebook) but it’s not orientated for the specific task of forming local groups. Does that make sense?

A couple of features that may help (you may or may not have noticed them)... At the top of the status feed ("collaborate" page) there is a distance slider. Slide it down to a smaller distance and you will only see messages posted within that distance range from where you are. A similar facility on the "connect" page to filter the map of users to only show those within a specific range of your location. I also think the circles feature I'm currently working on will allow us to create country specific circles which will be pretty much what you're suggesting. P.S. kitster, sorry for hijacking your very short status with all these comments ;)

Mat, in Switzerland there are only four people: two on one side of the country and two on the other. It might take some time to form groups. Thanks for the head's up.
